The Galvin Group, LLC, has extensive experience in consultative program evaluation, assessing compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended, and designing and implementing educational programs and services for individuals with disabilities.
The Galvin Group, LLC, has been providing technical assistance activities to DSPS programs in the California Community College System since 1998. These technical assistance activities include visits to colleges, provision of resources and on-line modular training. We are currently entering the eleventh year of working with the California Community College system.
Technical Assistance Activities
Galvin Group senior staff have visited over 97 of the 110 California Community Colleges, providing on-site technical assistance on a wide variety of issues facing DSPS professionals.
You will find that this website contains an extensive array of resources for DSPS professionals from Federal and state laws to policies and procedures, forms and reports. These resources are divided into fourteen sections and contain over 500 links and documents.
Also available on the site is an electronic directory of all DSPS Coordinators, special committees, Chancellor’s Office staff and contractors as well as CSU and UC Disability Service Programs.
E-Learning
Since
2005, the Galvin Group has designed and developed an eleven chapter
e-learning module for DSPS Coordinators and in 2008 completed the development of an intensive module on Adults with Learning Disabilities: Issues and Accommodations, allowing new Coordinators and LD Specialists to access a self-paced training program to increase knowledge and improve skills at times and on terms defined by each learner.
This approach creatively addresses the needs of students with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds by addressing the professional development needs and by enhancing networking and problem-solving capabilities of the faculty and staff that assist these students. The educational success of students with disabilities in two year college settings is greatly impacted by the skills and knowledge of the DSPS staff.
Thank you for your interest in services to individuals with disabilities. We hope you will find the resources and links on our website of value.
