Project Evaluation

Summary of Key Evaluation findings:

  • Overall, participants rated the training very highly with the majority of participants giving "excellent" or "very good" ratings overall.
  • The majority of participants agreed that:
    • the training was relevant to their work and an effective use of their time;
    • the training increased their ability to identify and respond to potential evaluationbehavioral issues that may emerge with Veteran students;
    • the training would contribute to a more welcoming campus community for student Veterans.
    • The majority of respondents also reported that the training improved their ability to work with student Veterans and increased their awareness of the mental health issues and daily stresses that student Veterans may face. Most participants also reported an increase in their awareness of resources available for student Veterans.
    • Narrative comments from participants reinforced the overall positive feedback about the training and the importance of the topic. In a few cases, comments reflected concern about the sensitive nature of the issues and topics covered by the training, in particular, how the topics impacted the student Veterans who participated in the panel. This was an issue that the training team was aware of and will continue to monitor for future efforts.
    • Participants were also asked about areas where they would like more information. Consistent responses were:
      • How to respond to triggers, as well as concrete strategies and examples of how to address needs of student Veterans, specific to the classroom.
      • Resource lists. These were provided in handout form and referenced at the end of the training. However, some comments indicated that participants may want more time during the training to actually discuss available resources.
