Marine/Student Bobby Hilton

I met Bobby in a parking lot at Butte College next to the
Veterans Resource Center. I was dragging my gear bag and camera out
of my car and was asked by this young man if I could use some
help with the gear. Not wanting to appear weak in front of
what was obviously a very fit Veteran, yet also not wanting to seem
stand-offish, I agreed that I could use some assistance. My gear
bag, which held several tripods. stands, microphones, speakers,
cables, etc. and with which I was struggling mightily, disappeared
from my hand like magic and I found myself needing to run to keep
up with Bobby and my bag, both of which were vanishing into
the VRC front door.
After being introduced to Dan Torres, the Certifying Official, I
was told that Bobby would give me the cook's tour and so I
started to set up. Bobby was formal, yes sir/no sir, all business
and very good as a tour guide (you will see just how good by
clicking on the Camera Icon below for the video tour of the
VRC).
By the end of the tour and the afternoon, I came to realize that
Bobby had a subtle and wry sense of humor, was very sharp and that
the Marine Corps loss was Butte College's gain. I thanked him for
his help to me, his service to our country and wished him all the
best.
