Five Veterans presented during a day-long conference designed to assist DSPS Coordinators and staff to better understand the issues that Veterans face when returning to the college campus. It took more than a small amount of courage to sit on a stage and tell an audience where and why things went wrong. It is important to learn from those who will share the inside details of their experiences, in order to help those yet unable to see or understand problems they may face. While not all Veterans need the services of the college Disabled Students Programs, a significant number will. The ability for a campus to respond in a "Veteran Friendly" manner will make all the difference as to whether these proud and often stoic individuals will avail themselves of needed services. On the next page, listen to their responses to the questions presented. (Right side descending: Garth Schultz, May, Shawn Mitchell. Left side descending: David Brandt, may 2)
