In 2005, the Galvin Group designed and developed an eleven
chapter e-learning module for DSPS Coordinators and in 2008
completed the development of an intensive module on Adults with
Learning Disabilities: Issues and Accommodations, allowing new
Coordinators and LD Specialists to access a self-paced training
program to increase knowledge and improve skills at times and on
terms defined by each learner. This school year, 2010-2011, a
new module is being added called "Veterans in Higher 'Education"
which explores the issues of the large number of veterans exiting
the military and returning to the college campus.
This approach creatively addresses the needs of students with
disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds by addressing the
professional development needs and by enhancing networking and
problem-solving capabilities of the faculty and staff that assist
these students. The educational success of students with
disabilities in two year college settings is greatly impacted by
the skills and knowledge of the DSPS staff.
Thank you for your interest in services to individuals with
disabilities. We hope you will find the resources and links on our
